It makes me sad to know that another person was victimized from bullying. I actually AM surprised to see an athlete get bullied. Meaning that she doesn't have any friends to back up for her or anything. Besides, everyone knows that you have to keep your grades up to stay on a team. I think it was a stupid decision to bring a gun on the bus. She could've asked her parents to drop her to school or stand up for herself using her voice. Her consequences should've been nine years in jail with counseling. To me, it matters that she didn't hurt anyone, unlike the jury. Lessons drawn from the story is that you don't have to endanger lives of people to be left alone. Other African Americans who heard or read this story probably would think that this was unfair.
Stereotypical people probably have been bullied before in their life. Her strength and determination of wanting to graduate with honors sprung her through. She endures this because she doesn't care about what people think about her; she's strong. LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) youth so often singled out because they're different, they like different things, and they probably dress different. Bullying makes people depressed and probably make them think about suicide.
I hate when people make fun of special ed kids. They can't help it, they were born this way. They would be confused and worried about making friends and stuff. Parents and school officials can help the kids with either counseling or trying to influence the child on the team to make friends. Things can get worse by more bullying and suicide. Things probably would get better when they probably go to the school made for kids for them. Intervention is most helpful when they are depressed.
